AeroMentor was built on a simple idea: flight training should be professional, personal, and purposeful. Let's not forget fun!

My name is Jim Schilling, a Certificated Flight Instructor based at the Anoka County - Blaine Airport. Aviation has been a meaningful part of my life for years, and I love giving back to a community that has given me so much. Being a CFI allows me to shift from simply flying to helping others pursue that same goal.

I earned by Private Pilot Certificate in 2014, and have since earned an Instrument Rating in 2017 and a Commercial Pilot Certificate in 2022. I have also shared my passion for aviation with others through content creation, producing and hosting the Flying Midwest Podcast, and the AeroExploration Podcast and YouTube Channel.

As an instructor, I want to focus on students and pilots who want an individual approach to training and practical skill development. We will emphasize safety, sound decision making, and long-term skills. We aren't checking boxes of rushing to minimum hours.

Whether you're starting your pilot journey, preparing for a checkride, completing a flight review, or transitioning to a new aircraft, my goal is straight forward: help you become a confident, capable pilot who is prepared well beyond a practical test.

If you are looking for thoughtful instruction in a personlized environment, I'd be happy to work with you.
